Melasmex-Q™ — Precision Laser Treatment for Melasma
A medically-designed low-fluence 1064nm protocol that targets melasma safely and progressively,
improving clarity while minimising the risk of rebound pigmentation.
What Is Melasmex-Q™?
Melasma is one of the most complex and stubborn forms of pigmentation. It is triggered by hormones, heat, blood-vessel signalling, UV exposure and chronic melanocyte hyperactivity. Melasma is a incompletely understood, complex issue of altered melanocyte and vascular biology, cellular signalling and inflammatory cascades. Creams alone rarely achieve meaningful results, and many treatments can make melasma darker.
Melasmex-Q™ is a medically engineered, low-fluence QS4 1064nm protocol designed specifically to address melasma physiology:
-
calming overstimulated melanocytes
-
reducing epidermal and superficial dermal pigment
-
avoiding thermal triggers that worsen melasma
-
improving clarity safely over a controlled treatment course
Melasmex-Q™ forms the melasma-specific arm of the ChromaQure™ Pigment Correction System — Only by Dr Brad.
Why Melasmex-Q™ Works So Well for Melasma
The Science Behind Melasmex-Q™
Melasma pigment often sits at a variety of depths, often much deeper than freckles and age spots, involving:
-
pigment in the epidermis
-
pigment at the dermal–epidermal junction
-
pigment inside dermal melanophages
-
erratic signalling from melanocytes
Melasmex-Q™ uses large-spot, low-fluence 1064nm energy to create a gentle photoacoustic effect that breaks apart melanin within melanosomes without attempting to destroy melanocytes or overheat the skin. The lightening benefits of Melasmex-Q are achieved by gradually reducing the content of melanocyte melanosomes and downregulating melanocyte activity.
Melasmex-Q does not attempt to destroy or remove melanocytes. In melasma, it doesn't work and is counter-productive. Deep melanocytes associated with dermal melasma can simply not be safely destroyed (this is different to other dermal pigmentation conditions).
Melasma, whether epidermal, dermal or mixed can not be “cured” but it can often be managed and improved with topicals, lifestyle modification and Melasmex-Q.
Why It Is Safe for All Skin Tones
Because Melasmex-Q™ uses:
-
minimal heat
-
a wavelength with the lowest melanin absorption
-
large spot sizes for a more effective safe treatment
-
a conservativee staged approach rather than aggressive pulses
…it is suitable for all skin tones, including darker skin types that require additional care.
What Results to Expect
Improvements develop gradually and steadily:
After 1–2 Sessions
-
early brightening
-
reduced contrast
-
smoother complexion
After 4–6 Sessions (often the key-stage for most noticeable improvement)
-
noticeably softer pigmentation
-
reduced heaviness in patches
-
clearer, more even skin tone
After 6–8 Sessions
-
deeper reduction in melasma visibility
-
calmer skin with fewer triggers
-
improved cosmetic satisfaction
Melasma is chronic — the goal is control, stability and long-term clarity, not permanent cure. Melasmex-Q™ achieves this with the maximum practical safety and reliability.
Who Is Melasmex-Q™ For?
You may benefit from Melasmex-Q™ if you have:
- a working understanding of melasma and realistic expectations about what Melasmex-Q can achieve
-
hormone-related melasma
-
pigmentation that worsens in heat or sunlight
-
pregnancy-related pigment (not within 6-9 months of giving birth or stopping breastfeeding)
-
melasma unresponsive to creams
-
pigment that returns quickly after superficial treatments
-
darker skin types requiring safe, controlled laser energy
-
long-standing melasma and uneven tone
Melasmex-Q™ can be suitable for Fitzpatrick I–VI.
Not all patients will be suitable for Melasmex-Q at the time of consultation. Every case of melasma is different and unique. Dr Brad will risk assess your unique situation and make personalised recommendations.
Sometimes patients will experience a deterioration in melasma as a result of laser treatment nd sometimes it will become clear that Melasmex-Q should be paused or permanently discontinued.
If a patient has expectations of “complete clearance” or “cure” or a “quick fix” perhaps hyped by a social media infleuncer, then Melasmex-Q will unfotunately be inappropriate for them.
