Bristol born and educated, Dr Bradley Tomkins is proud to serve patients across Bristol and the West Country. Having attended Colston’s Collegiate School locally, he achieved straight-A results in the sciences before reading Medicine at one of England’s most historic medical faculties: St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Medicine (Queen Mary University of London).
During his medical undergraduate tenure, Dr Brad completed an intercalated Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Molecular and Cellular Physiology at the University of Bristol (2004), during which he represented Medical Officer Cadets on the British Medical Association’s Armed Forces Committee.
Dr Brad acquired core surgical acumen early in his career through attachment to the internationally renowned Plastic Surgery & Burns Department at Broomfield Hospital (Chelmsford, Essex). There, he gained intensive experience assisting senior reconstructive surgeons in microvascular flap procedures, breast reconstructions, post-traumatic repairs, and comprehensive wound healing, providing an intimate knowledge of facial micro-anatomy.
Naval Service & NHS General Practice
Following hospital rotations across Essex and London in acute medicine and general surgery, Dr Brad graduated from Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth. He completed five years of dedicated active duty as a commissioned Royal Navy Medical Officer, serving ashore and deployed at sea aboard capital warships—including HMS Ark Royal—and was awarded the Op Telic Medal for operational service in the Arabian Gulf.
Upon returning to NHS hospital medicine, he completed rigorous rotations at Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey, before returning home to Bristol to complete his General Practice specialty training with the Severn Deanery. In 2013, he achieved full membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP).
