Aftercare Advice

Thank you for choosing the Hollywood Carbon Laser Facial PRO™ at Dr Brad’s Laser & Cosmetic Clinic.

This is a non-ablative, medical-grade laser treatment designed to improve pore congestion, oil control and skin clarity with minimal disruption to daily life. Most patients experience little to no downtime.

Following the guidance below will help optimise your results and minimise the risk of irritation or pigment disturbance.

Immediately after treatment

  • Your skin may feel warm or mildly sensitive for a short period

  • Mild redness can occur and usually settles within a few hours

  • You can return to normal activities immediately

This response is expected and temporary.

Skin care on the day of treatment

  • You may gently cleanse the skin later the same day

  • Use a mild, fragrance-free cleanser

  • Avoid scrubs, exfoliants or active products for the rest of the day

  • Apply a light moisturiser if needed

Do not pick, rub or aggressively massage the skin.

Sun protection (important)

Although this is a low-risk, non-ablative treatment, sun protection is essential.

  • Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 daily

  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 7 days

  • Avoid sunbeds entirely

This is particularly important for patients prone to pigmentation.

Products to avoid (for 24–48 hours)

To allow the skin barrier to settle, avoid:

  • Retinoids (e.g. tretinoin, adapalene, retinol)

  • Acid exfoliants (glycolic, salicylic, lactic acids)

  • Benzoyl peroxide

  • Vitamin C serums

  • Alcohol-based toners

These can be reintroduced gradually after 48 hours if the skin feels settled.

Makeup

  • Light makeup may be applied the following day if required

  • Avoid heavy or occlusive products on the day of treatment

What is normal?

The following can occur and usually resolve quickly:

  • Mild redness

  • Warmth or sensitivity

  • Slight dryness

These are expected responses and not a cause for concern.

What is NOT normal?

Please contact the clinic if you experience:

  • Blistering

  • Persistent redness beyond 48 hours

  • Increasing pain

  • Darkening of the skin that concerns you

Such reactions are uncommon with this protocol but should always be reviewed.

Ongoing care & results

Most patients notice:

  • Cleaner-feeling skin

  • Reduced surface oil

  • Improved skin clarity

Results are gradual and cumulative. A short course of treatments provides the best outcome.

Your clinician will advise on:

  • Treatment frequency

  • Maintenance sessions

  • Whether progression to more advanced laser treatments (such as QUEST³) may be appropriate for your goals
