PIH-Quiet™ Laser Aftercare Instructions
Gentle care for safe and effective correction of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
Thank you for choosing PIH-Quiet™, our ultra-gentle laser treatment designed to help fade dark marks caused by inflammation, acne, irritation, or previous procedures.
Following the correct aftercare is essential for the best results and to minimise the risk of further pigmentation.
What to Expect After Treatment
-
The treated area may look normal, or slightly pink or warm for a short time.
-
Mild darkening of the pigmentation over the first few days is normal — this is part of the fading process.
-
Most people return immediately to normal activities.
-
Results are gradual, and changes may become visible within 2–6 weeks.
Essential Aftercare
1. Protect your skin from the sun
This is the most important part of aftercare.
-
Apply SPF 50 every morning to the treated area.
-
Reapply during the day if you are outdoors.
-
Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks after treatment.
-
Avoid tanning beds completely.
Sun exposure is the most common cause of new pigmentation and can undo the benefits of treatment.
2. Be gentle with your skin
For the first 48–72 hours, avoid:
-
hot showers, steam rooms, saunas and swimming
-
strenuous exercise that makes the area hot
-
scrubbing, exfoliating or rubbing the area
-
waxing, threading or hair-removal creams
Use a simple moisturiser if the skin feels dry or tight.
3. Avoid active skincare products for 3–5 days
Do not use:
-
retinoids (Retin-A, tretinoin, adapalene, retinal)
-
glycolic, salicylic or lactic acids
-
benzoyl peroxide
-
vitamin C serums
-
scrubs, masks, peeling agents
You may restart your usual routine after 3–5 days, once the skin feels calm.
If you have been prescribed pigment-suppressing creams (such as azelaic acid or hydroquinone), you will be advised when to restart them — usually after 48–72 hours.
4. Don’t pick or scratch
Allow the skin to settle naturally.
-
Do not pick, peel or scratch the treated area.
-
Avoid friction from clothing, helmets, masks or tight straps.
Picking is a major cause of pigmentation returning.
5. Avoid heat and friction
For 48 hours:
-
avoid hot yoga, intense workouts, steam rooms
-
avoid long hot baths
-
avoid tight clothing over the area
Heat can stimulate pigment production in sensitive skin.
Healing Times
-
Most people feel completely normal within a few hours.
-
The pigmentation usually softens over 1–3 sessions, spaced several weeks apart.
-
Deeper or older pigmentation may require a longer course.
