Revida Reclaim – Aftercare Guide
Fractional CO₂ Laser for Stretch Marks
Revida Reclaim uses advanced fractional CO₂ laser technology to remodel collagen, smooth the texture of stretch marks, and improve skin tone.
Because this treatment is performed on the body—where healing is naturally slower than on the face—good aftercare is essential for achieving the best results and minimising risks.
This guide explains exactly what to expect and how to care for your skin in the days and weeks after treatment.
What to Expect After Treatment
Immediately – 72 hours
• Warmth, redness and swelling are normal
• Skin may feel tight, sunburn-like or sensitive
• You may see tiny brown or pink grid-like dots (“pixeling”)
• Mild oozing or pinpoint crusting can appear, especially on deeper treatments
Days 3–7
• Skin may darken, bronze or form fine crusts
• Treated areas may feel dry or rough as microscopic flakes shed
• Pinkness or redness is common and may last several days
• Avoid picking—let crusts shed naturally
Weeks 1–6
• Gradual softening of texture
• Mild pinkness may persist a little longer on thinner skin areas
• Deeper collagen remodelling continues for several months
• It is normal for stretch marks to appear redder before they improve
Essential Aftercare Instructions
1. Keep the Area Clean
• Wash gently with cool or lukewarm water for the first few days
• Use a mild, fragrance-free cleanser
• Pat dry—do not rub the skin
2. Moisturise Generously
To support healing and reduce dryness:
• Apply the recommended balm or moisturiser 2–3 times daily
• Continue daily moisturising for at least 2 weeks
• If the skin feels tight or itchy, increase frequency
3. Sun Protection
This is a critical part of your aftercare, as body sites are highly prone to pigmentation changes after fractional CO₂.
• Avoid sun exposure entirely for 4 weeks
• Apply broad-spectrum SPF 50 daily for at least 6 weeks
• Wear protective clothing if treated areas are exposed outdoors
• Do not use tanning beds or self-tan
Failure to follow sun-protection instructions is the leading cause of post-laser pigmentation problems.
4. Avoid Heat and Sweat
For 72 hours, avoid:
• Gym or heavy exercise
• Hot baths, saunas, steam rooms
• Swimming pools and Jacuzzis
• Very hot showers
• Anything that increases sweating or friction
Heat and moisture slow healing and may increase the risk of infection or irritation.
5. No Picking or Scratching
• Allow crusts and flakes to shed naturally
• Do not exfoliate the area
• Avoid tight clothing that may rub or disturb healing skin
6. Makeup, Cosmetics & Skincare
For body areas:
• Avoid active skincare (acids, retinoids, scrubs) for 10–14 days
• Avoid perfumed lotions or self-tanners until fully healed
If your treatment area may contact makeup (e.g., chest):
• Avoid makeup on the treated area for 3–5 days
7. Activities to Avoid
• Swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes or the sea for 7–10 days
• High-friction activities (Long runs, HIIT, yoga, cycling) for 72 hours
• Tight sportswear or clothing that causes rubbing
• Hair removal (shaving, waxing, depilation) over treated skin for 2 weeks
Pain Relief & Comfort
Most patients experience mild discomfort only.
If needed, you may use:
• Paracetamol
• Cool compresses (not ice directly on skin)
• Moisturiser as recommended
Avoid ibuprofen or aspirin unless advised, as these can occasionally increase bruising risk.
Signs of Normal Healing
These are expected:
✔ Redness or pinkness for several days
✔ Bronzing or browning of the skin
✔ Mild swelling
✔ Sandpaper-like texture or micro-flaking
✔ Temporary darkening of stretch marks before improvement
✔ Mild itching
When to Contact the Clinic
Get in touch promptly if you notice:
• Increasing pain rather than improvement
• Spreading redness or warmth (possible infection)
• Blistering or yellow discharge
• Fever or feeling unwell
• Sudden dark patches or unexpected strong pigmentation changes
• Any concerns about healing or treatment response
We will advise you and, if needed, arrange a review appointment.
Results & Follow-Up Treatments
Fractional CO₂ remodelling is gradual and continues for months.
Typical improvement timeline:
• 2–4 weeks: early texture change, smoother feel
• 6–12 weeks: visible improvement in depth and colour of stretch marks
• 3–6 months: optimal collagen remodelling
Most patients require 3–6 sessions, depending on stretch-mark severity, body area and skin type.
Your clinician will advise the ideal treatment interval—usually 6–12 weeks between sessions to allow the body to build new collagen effectively.
Long-Term Skin Care
To maintain results:
• Continue using SPF on exposed body sites
• Keep the skin well moisturised
• Avoid future rapid tanning of treated areas
• Consider maintenance sessions every 6–12 months if desired
